569 Million Reasons –
569 Millions Reasons
Changes to over the counter medicines prescribing
We worked with leaders in the healthcare commissioning community to develop a medicines optimisation campaign on over the counter medicines in the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw region.
We created the 569 Million Reasons branding in support of the research process – big numbers are powerful and this facilitated the creation of imaginative, compelling outputs that were used with both staff and the public to drive engagement with the conversation and the concept.
Who was involved?
SYB ICS is a partnership of 23 organisations, 18 NHS organisations, six local authorities and key voluntary sector and independent partners across Bassetlaw, Doncaster, Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham. The campaign also collaborated closely with patient groups, community pharmacies, the voluntary sector and other local groups.

- The average response rate for UK public consultations is 0.7%, making 569 Million Reasons more successful than the previously most successful regional consultation on health services conducted in England.
- One of the key findings that informed ongoing decision making was that 82% of respondents would be willing to purchase medication over the counter if they were told to do so by a prescriber.
